Johnstons of Elgin

Johnstons has been making beautiful knitwear, clothing and accessories from the most luxurious wools known to man for over two centuries. At their mill located on the banks of the River Lossie in Elgin they still produce all their woven accessories, homewares and much more. Meanwhile, Johnstons knitwear is crafted at their factory in Hawick.

Johnstons’ mills pioneered the weaving of cashmere and vicuna in Scotland in 1851 and have been processing luxury wool fibres since that period. Their flagship mill at Elgin is the only mill in Britain to transform cashmere from raw fibre to finished article. Total control gives Johnstons’ their trademark consistency of quality.

Richard Hirst Agencies is proud to represent Johnstons Cashmere of Elgin, manufacturers of fine woollens since 1797. Johnstons Cashmere manufacture ethically; working with Mongolian farmers who manage their cashmere herds sustainably. Johnstons’ buyers select the finest fibres for processing through 30 stages to reach an exceptional finished product.
